In addition to performing regularly, I also teach private lessons both in person and over the internet.
My approach to teaching is personalized, decidedly non-authoritarian, and a bit unorthodox. I tailor my curriculum to match each individual student's personality and goals. I help the student nurture their personal relationship with music and give them the tools to help them individually shine, whether it be through writing, performing, or recording.
I do not offer grades or levels, but I will encourage a student to record or perform live with me when they feel ready. Music is about experiencing joy, self expression, stress relief, connection, and fun. It teaches us that competency is a cumulative result of incremental actions and competition should only be with one's self.
Music, to me, is a lifelong pursuit. I have been performing since I was very young and I have a lifetime of experience to offer in:
instruments - guitar, bass, piano
voice - range, technique, style
musicianship - reading/writing, theory, ear training
performance - preparation, intention, execution
songwriting - idea capture, development, collaboration
recording - approaches, equipment
I train the whole musician, externally (technique, instrumental craft) and internally (ear training, knowledge, concentration, vocabulary and improvisation).
In person, I give private lessons in and around the Hong Kong area. Otherwise, I am happy to let technology bridge the gap.

“If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. ”
